The call ends. The rep opens Salesforce, or HubSpot, or whatever CRM is in the stack. They type the account update — discovery call highlights, objections raised, next steps agreed, the specific pain the prospect mentioned that changed the direction of the conversation.
They already said all of this on the call. The AI assistant was in the session. It heard the summary, processed the follow-up draft, probably helped write the next email. The gap between what the AI knows and what the CRM contains is the ten minutes the rep spends re-entering context that already exists.
Where the context lives and where it needs to go
After a sales call, there are two places the context needs to exist: in the AI assistant the rep uses for follow-up, and in the CRM that the sales manager reviews, that marketing pulls from for attribution, that CS uses for handoff context.
Current state: the AI has the context in the session. The CRM has what the rep typed. These are often the same information — but the rep is the bridge, manually transferring context between two systems that both participated in the call.
This is the version of the re-entry problem that compounds fastest. A rep doing five calls a day is doing five manual CRM updates. A team of ten reps is doing fifty. The updates are partially complete because nobody has time to be thorough for every call. The CRM reflects the rep's capacity, not the call content.
Passive capture in the sales workflow

The honest version
Passive capture covers sessions. Account context that exists only in the CRM — notes entered directly without an AI session involved, data from integrations — isn't captured automatically. The passive capture layer and the CRM aren't fully unified.
The practical hybrid: passive capture handles what flows through AI sessions; explicit capture handles high-signal moments the rep wants to preserve that didn't come through a session.
